Free Community-Wide Program has Answers MIAMI, FL, May 15, 2010 A number of prominent companies are demonstrating their commitment to our South Florida community and support for seniors by sponsoring a free event called Roadmap for Aging: A Day to Point the Way on Thursday, May 27. Vitas Innovative Hospice, joined by Forum Publishing, FPL, Responsive Home Health, Senior Helpers, Elder Law Associates, LoJack and Christian Manor, are helping to provide expert guidance and information to seniors and their families who are seeking services but get lost in the maze of confusing government programs, community agencies and private providers. This unique, first-of-its-kind program will offer older adults the reliable, accurate information they need to make critical, quality-of-life decisions from choosing among a multitude of residential options or healthcare plans to coping with memory loss. Roadmap for Aging will be conducted at numerous senior and community centers and other locations throughout the tri-county region. Seniors and their families are invited to meet with a Roadmap Specialist, one of dozens of social service workers, case managers and other health care professionals who have received specialized training. Organized by three South Florida community agencies -- the Broward Coalition on Aging, Palm Beach Partnership for Aging and Jewish Community Services of South Florida the event is Unlike traditional, mass-attended health fairs where people get lost in the crowd, taking it to the next level with individually-conducted, confidential sessions set up by appointment only explains BCOA president Ray Levi. In fact, Broward County has recognized the importance of this event by issuing a proclamation designating May 27th Broward Coalition for Aging Roadmap for Aging Day. For more information or to schedule a no-cost, no-obligation appointment at a convenient location, the public is invited to contact their nearest Roadmap for Aging location listed below or visit the website at www.roadmapforaging.org. The BCOA and PBPFA are networking organizations bringing together health care, social service and other professionals dedicated to improving regional and nationwide geriatric care. JCS annually serves more than 35,000 residents throughout Miami-Dade County with numerous health care-related, social service and vocational assistance programs.
